What can Sonic and Friends do to save the world?
Upside 👍
The Sonic 3 franchise expands the lore and introduces new characters.
The film introduces Shadow, a hedgehog on Earth fifty years before Sonic's arrival. He is on a revenge mission after losing the only family he's known. Dr. Robotnik's estranged grandfather, Gerald Robotnik, and Shadow represent the darkness that can consume you after losing a loved one. The pair are complete opposites to Tom and Sonic. Sonic and Shadow's fight was at the anime level during the movie's climax. The action alone is worth the watch.
If you are a fan of the games, you'll love the appearances.
Downside 👎
This should be obvious, but this is a kid's movie.
Several jokes are designed specifically for the little ones, which is great as you don't have to worry about anything overly negative. However, as a fan of the franchise, you will have to be patient and wait for the action. This is a downside only if you are going to see the film alone. If you are going with your family, this is a plus.
Although the jokes are not quite at the dad-joke level, they still are not for most people.
Verdict ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Sonic the Hedgehog 3(2024) is a fun film focusing on family and redemption themes.
This is a light, family-friendly film. Sure, there are a ton of kid jokes and a couple almost-dad jokes thrown in for good measure, but it's good fun. The anime-level fights make it worth it. All of the characters are fun and pulled from the Sonic lore. There are even post/mid-credit scenes you should check out.
